after a long season of steelheading, and getting pretty complacent drifting in the tribs, im getting ready for musky time! if theres something totally opposite of river fishing, its musky. heavy rods with heavy braid, big baits, trolling 7 mph and crazy attacks on your lures! i buddy and i used to go lots but havent been going as much in recent years,  but im gunna try and get out more this year. a buddies boat in in a slip in arnolds bay this summer so it easy with no trailering. still have my boat for kawarthas and such tho. kant wait for opener in a couple weeks! any one else target them?

heres one my dad got with me fathers day a few years back. his only musky ever and a nice mid 40s (inches) fish.

That's a monster fish man! You guys must have been trolling something sweet...

I've never fished for musky before but I want to get started this year. I really don't know what to use for them but I started upsizing the poop out of my spinners and I guess we'll see what happens haha!

What kinda gear are you guys thinking of using this spring if you don't mind me asking?

Lets keep this thread alive (I wanna learn everyone's musky tactics lol). What are you guys thinking of throwing? My buddy told me he loves to troll clear bulldawgs and double 10 blade 10" bucktails, especially around the fall. I'm not quite there yet but I might convert once I cut my teeth of a few trolls and casts. Here's an example of what I've been making for em'...6.5" #10 in-line spinner with a small silicone skirt and a 2/0 red treb:

Never fished for muskie before, but they are some big fish! Your dad must have been pumped after catching that beast!

Nice lure bwb.

Oh yea, after catching my first two musky ever last summer I can't wait to get back out there and get a few more!

I have lots of musky lures but it is funny the two I caught were both when I was going after bass. One hit a #3 gold mepps and the bigger one (a little over 30 inches) hit a purple x-rap right off my dock.

This is what $2000 of high quality musky lures looks like! This is not even 1% of my collection......I'm serious.
