Just a gentle reminder to the "lurkers" (non OFF members) that despite the hype and promos aimed at bass fishing, bass season is closed till the end of June and that means even targeting them for catch and release or using a spinnerbait for them "while going for pike".
Why is this business promotion allowed on this site? Maybe we need a special section where this sort of thing can be done....
i wanna talk fishin', not help get a business more Facebook numbers
There was an issue last year where those "making money" thru fishing, be it guiding or whatever, had to run the idea by the site's top brass first.... maybe that was done in this instance as well
Funny, On my way home the other day I decided to stop and fish for a pike, I was using my "travel" rod and spinners and spoons.
The area I was fishing has a very healthy population of bass, in fact I could see a couple swimming around in front of me.
The bass showed zero intrest in my 4+ inch spoons and mepps size 5 spinners but this guy certainly did just a good thing there are no skis in the area

Dugger I want to come fish for Drum!
ahhh Drum, our Drum are the only freshwater family member of the saltwater group that anglers target big time (Red Drum, assorted Croakers etc) and yet, we have this wonderful drum in our own backyards and not many enjoy them.... what a shame
I am sure we can work something out, Rusty

I see a huge difference in how fishing shows from the UK are presented: more class, more education, more depth.... I would love to see a British film crew do some North American programming, see their slant on it. Maybe it is my age/experience demographic group... we have seen it all, the crappy loud marketing, the rock and roll high school schtick, the "treat fish like it is some unfeeling inanimate object"....
Hooked with Paul Young, and the Totally Awesome Fishing Show on youtube are both British run shows that I absolutely love. Too bad Hooked with Paul Young rarely fishing for species found Ontario, other then trout or salmon. What I'm waiting for is a show for the so called junk fish, carp, catfish, drum, bowfin, etc...
put my mind at ease this year and how about a few of you try the barbless experience and report back if you aren't barbless already
Barbless on all treble hooks and all hooks smaller then 1/0... I find with hooks larger with 1/0 they can flip the hook out because of the longer shank...
barbless wont make a difference when you have to literally seperate your shoulder and the shoulders of everyone on the boat to set the hook--that's like painting a 50 cal bullet pink to make you feel all pretty while it blows your head off.....archaic to be honest.
From the videos that I see on pros giving tips and advice, the majority of them recommend a constant paced sweeping hook set while reeling in... a big move from the sharp jerk of the past.

hmmmm, it's a real Canadian fish, homegrown in Ontario for over 10,000 years! With light tackle I have a blast with Drum up to 30 inches... if it only lived back in saltwater with the rest of his family, people would be going nutty over them, yet, because some people have bad memories of yanking them off of piers on pickerel rigs and heavy line and sinkers covered in "seaweed" lol it gets a bad name that lingers, wha an awesome fish that actually fights stronger than most Largemouth or Pickerel
