Hello,

Wondering if there is any good walleye fishing on the Grandriver?  I am in the Kitchener-Waterloo area.  I know the grand is quite fast, so not sure what technique or tackle would be best for this.

Thanks!

Walleye would eat that right up!!! I might also try a fluke like bait on a jig.

I have lots of success with nettle spins for bass, especially in the hot mid day time frame when they don't want a big presentation or to chase lures down. Just cast over the weed beds, burn it back until you get to a hole in the weeds then let it sink. They always hit on the when it is sinking.

You'll get it for sure! I caught my first ever topwater bass the other day... was crazy.

Thanks very much for the tips everyone. I'm going to try these suggestions and let you know how I made out. Now, if I can find the right spot. If someone can IM me with a couple locations, that would be super helpful. Thanks again!!

Try a worm harness with either leeches/worms/minnows. Use a heavy weight and have it way above the worm harness to allow it to get picked up by the current. I have done that a few times on rivers and even though the chances of getting snagged are higher this way, I have found it to be successful for walleye fishing. Otherwise use a jig with live bait or a plastic grub and look for areas of the river where the water is calmer and possible has the bubbles/foam around it. That is usually where you can find walleye looking for baitfish to get released out of the fast water.
