Just saw a new episode on Tuesday, they were in rivers in Ontario and Quebec, I belive right on the border of the provinces. I didnt catch exactly what body of water.

However they were talking about lamprey and the damage they are causing in our waterways. Aswell as carp being an invasive species that didnt belong.

To many first nations people Lamprey have a very important part to thier culture, which I really never knew. I didn't know lamprey were edible.

Also based onw hat I was told @ the outdoorsmen show its seemed like these lamprey were vicious creatures. The teeth that encircled thier mouths are actually soft and are made for gripping not penetration.

Anyone else see this episode?!?!

I saw this episode, iJay.... I like the guy but he sure does "sensationalize" everything for the sake of entertainment... it's a lamprey for pete's sake, not the anti christ :D

the lamprey uses its tongue to probe flesh, tear away flesh, it is encrusted with primitive teeth similar to what human toenails are made of...

but yes, the show was filmed in part on Lake Champlain which is shared between Quebec and Vermont, they then went to the US west coast

Didn't see it. I'll have to look it up. I stopped watching river monsters, cause it was too dramatic... I want a show with just fishing, all fishing, not to mention proper handling of fish. Something that I have noticed with most bass anglers, is that they do release the fish pretty quick. Although sometimes, their release methods are sketchy such as throwing the fish back.

Remy, hope they don't care that your not working!

Here's a link to some short videos about the episode:

Here's a link to Jeremy attaching a lamprey to Jay Leno's neck:

I like the show, he gives very good info about the fish. The dramatic effect makes it enticing lol...

You have a point, and I loved it for a while, but I haven't been able to watch that much t.v. I can just imagine, all the people thinking that humans have to go out and kill all the "river monsters" after watching his show and being guilable enough to believe all of the exagerations, he in my opinion does not say enough, that these fish are mostly harmless, and it was the humans falt, we have to protect what we still have, etc.

I do like his Taimen and eel episode...  However, I think it would take an immense measures before these fish would take a human...

I like the episode where he teams up with Italo. It was called "Sunfish: Ankle-biter of the Shallows". Jeremy stalked these underrated killers while Italo explained how a bobber worked then shared the GPS coordinates of their location with the world (including where to park your car if you are brave enough to tackle these denizens of the lillypads).

Riveting.

:D

That was the one where he was paddling out in a inflatable raft?

Regards to what others say, everyone has thier own opinion. The show makes great TV. It is predictable for thevmost part (states speices he is after, struglles to catch, speaks to locals, right before end of show in the last 8 minutes he catches and proudly displays). It keeps me entertained right before bed, just as Deadliest catch, gold rush, yukon gold ect.

TV in large is made of exagerating and strategically placed drama. Even the food networks got it.

Wanna talk about good TV lets talk Fresh price of bel air! LOL

The episode where he is chasing the wolf fish through south american rain forest was pretty entertaining.

Although I think they play up the "danger" of most of these so called monsters it is neat some of the places he ends up fishing such as the cooling ponds of Chernobyl or almost a mile of line out with a 20lb weight in a Norwegian fjord.

Chernobyl, didnt he have to get special permission to fish there and was still kicked out?

There was another episode I think last week's where he was fishing for something that produced illegal caviar and he was asked to leave the waters as well. Speed boats and police boats.

Cannot remeber where it was, but there was shifting water tempuratures and thousands of dead salmon in the current going by his boat/
