Hey everyone! just wanted to introduce my self. Almost new to fishing here i love the sport and im very appreciative of all the fishing oppurtunities us ontarians have! Ive been been lurking the forumns for some fishing tips because i feel that ive been cursed with bad luck because i havent been able to bring in a fish in the past 2 seasons (i know right?). i have pulled a few small pike out of little lake probably 2-3 3 years ago. but it seems that everytime i go fishing for any species i cant catch and its turning me away from the sport.

i look forward to meeting everyone and gaining some knowledge and tips on the sport.

regards

Welcome to the site. See one of our best members already welcomed you!

What set up do you use? What fish do you normally target? I know of a spot where the sunfish are always active and if you just want a tug on the line, they are willing.

Sorry for the late reply. My main targeting species is bass and pike. I have a spinning setup which consists of an Abu Garcia cardinal 104i(I think it's a 104) paired with a bass pro graphite series rod. 6'6 medium and fast action. Also a friend of mine just gave me his browning baitcast reel that's I'm setting up with 30lb power pro braid (green). I want to try using a baitcast and see if i like it. I'll also be pairing it with a 7 or 7.5 foot bass pro graphite series.

Should I go 7 or 7.5 for the baitcast rod?

Try 7ft. Easier to handle in a tight spot, and better more pitching.

Thanks for the reply catfish. That's what I opted for. 7 ft med heavy and fast action paired with a browning bs110hb that's spooled with 30lb power pro

Also picked up some strike king rage craw because I've heard they're pretty productive in green pumpkin with 3/16 tungsten screw in bullet weights fished Texas rigged. Any reviews on them? The tail action is absolutely crazy on them.

I also managed to pick up a scum frog white red pearl with black and red tails. Any review on those?
