Het guys, was out fishing the grand yesterday. The water levels were really high but i figured id give err a try i was able to catch acouple rock bass and 2 SM but i was geting snags every 2 or 3rd cast . Juss wanted to know if you had any tips or different jigs or lures to use to avoid them.(obviosly top water is prolly the best) .

Flipping Jigs are amazing for snag free fishing. I toss them under docks, directly into fallen trees and timber and in rock piles ect and I never get snagged. They have a small guard on them which keeps them snag free but still maintains a great hook up ratio. I love using them. You can also try Texas Rigging.

 

BTW if you do plan on getting some flipping jigs, I would strongly recommend Strike King, they are fantastic.

Ill have to pick one up. And try it out. Ive seen them used in alot of.videos imma havr to look into ehm more.

Texas rigged chigger craws in 3" & 4" are my go-to bait. For some reason they are hard to find this year was only able to find them in 3” at Canadian Tire as my local store told me they cant order them. I also use the tungsten bullet weight that screws into the plastic at the head. This weight gets snagged up a lot less on both weeds and rocks, they are pricey at about 2 bucks a weight but I find its worth it.

Question: Hey italo big fan of the show. Watch every week. I mainly fish the grand river for small mouth. I am wondering about different jigs that could be used to prevent some snags.

HI Cody...Thank you for your kind words. Try fishing a Texas-rigged 3-4" tube with a 1/8 oz. jighed and size #1 worm hook. Fish it right long the bottom wherever you think bass are holding....God bless you, Italo

Italo is the man. He's been living and breathing fishing longer than I have probably been alive. 

 

One rig I like to use when dealing with heavy weeds, is a simple twister tail in a plain large (pike/bass sized) hook. It floats along the surface, which still produces action in the tail. Excellent for all species, and one way to actually get topwater walleye!

Ahh nice i have acouple packs of those so ill have to try that rigging. I know a nice spot to try that on once the river goes down lol

Whenever I use weedless jigs I usually use a 1/4 oz strike king bitsy jig with a crayfish imitation trailer such as the soft plastic NADO mentioned..haven't used the jig a ton, but whenever I used it, it seemed to work for me
