Hi guys,

 

I was just wondering what you guys think if fish attractant sprays/liquids/scents?

Are you guys using them every time or do you believe its not worth the effort and money. I have always seen them in shops just wanted to know if its worth trying.

I bought a spray a long time ago and tried it once. Did not notice much difference in my catch rate. My theory is unless it diffuses into the plastic bait, then it is washed away right after hitting water, hence little or no effect.

Im no expert but ive used them a bit and make not much of a difference for me, they might make a bit of a difference with soft plastics, but not with hard baits such as spoons, spinners, crankbaits, etc because those types of baits cause a reaction bite from fish and i personally dont think what it smells like would make a difference...just my 2 cents worth

There is not a spray that I use but more a tube of a jelly substance that I use to stick to my plastics when bass fishing. I can say I have done many attempts of fishing with and without it in the same bay and when I applied it, the bass seemed to strike harder. I used this for 2 tournaments last year and came in handy. That being said, I know the berkley sprays/apply on products they have dont work for me.

thanks guys....gave me an idea.....gonna try soft baits...(no spray,spray on before cast, and soak over night)...Unless i'm slamming them in on one of these options, thats the only way to figure it out.

kinda old post but when i seen the title i laughed. it jogged my memory

 

one of the guys i fished with one time told me that he used to catch sturgeon  with WD-40 on his bait LOL! 

 

he said the smell attracted them. dont take my word on it but ha funny

I know this thread is a bit old but I can tell you that using Scent's for fishing for Brown Trout in the streams everyone knows they are a hard fish to catch and I have seen them pushing my Panther Martin with there nose right to shore.

 

I know hen not using a scent I don't get as many,I think when it has a smell to that smells like something that they have smelled before they can be fooled,I will sometimes just use a Salmon egg on a hook or dip in the juice.

Carp guys are addicted to scents, flavours and attractants. Most have dozens of bottles. They have some pretty weird concoctions, like cranberry squid and honey mussel to mention a couple. .

I make my own. Fish oil, canola oil, Garlic powder and real garlic.

 

I use it on my hard baits, the oil stays on the lure pretty good after you cast it a few times I reapply every 5 or so casts. And honestly I think its worked pretty good.

I like "Dr, Juice " steelhead scent on spoons when I'm using them.

I have seen a group or men fishing and passing around a can of WD-40. I asked them about it and they told me it will attract the fish to the lure. Must work because they were bangin them off all night. BUT im sure there must be laws in affect somewhere sayin u cant use WD-40 for atttractant, its damaging to the enviroment.

One thing my buddy does and Im not sure if it works so much, but its his thing....He keeps all the juice from his gulp alive containers and soaks in his lures before fishing. Also I have seen ppl store lures in bags of salt. Im sure most of these techniques are a self-satisfaction rituals that dont work....at least the ones I saw.
