Hey all, I'm real thinking about the Abu Garcia's Revo 3s with etxtreme trigger rod from Bass Pro. I fish from the shore on a boat and rivers mostly. i was thinking a 7 foot rod. Due to the fact that I mostly fish for bass and pike. does anyone have any other brands they find effective in those situations. im always up of more information.

thanks again,

Jamie

I just got a Shimano Caius reel and an Abu Garcia Veritas rod at Bass Pro a couple weeks ago. Awesome set up, I love it.

I like a 7ft rod for all around bass and pike fishing. Any shimano or abu will be great and you shouldn'y have any problems with it. I suggest buying an extra spool of line when you buy it. You will need it, trust me

jmmartin i hope you havent made your decision yet so you can see my review. I just recently purchased a 7ft Heavy fast action Extreme trigger rod paired with an extreme baitcaster. I use this rod for pitching and flipping my plastic worms/jigs and creature baits towards docks and heavy coverage. The rod works amazing and the reel is a blessing to pitch/flip with. You can easily use it for casting as I have done that with a weightless texas rigged plastic worm without any birds nests. If your looking for tips on rods and reels PM me, I work at bass pro but even before that I have been studying products forever now.

About a month ago a friend let me try out his Revo MBX reel on a 7' medium heavy Veritas rod. Let me tell you... It was the most beautiful piece of fishing equipment I have ever had in my hand. Now I realize the MBX is 3 time as much money as the reel you are reffering to and I wouldn't suggest that. But, the Veritas rod is a thing of beauty and the price is fairly reasonable too.

Rod: Abu Garcia Veritas

Reel: Abu Garcia Revo S

Work extremely well together and look super good together too.

Rod is perfect for a lot of different applications and has a good back bone. Reel is amazing, rarely backlashes, casts a mile, has an outstanding drag system and is all around awesome.

Highly highly recommend this combo.
