I would look for anything under 60 degrees F surface temp... The lower the better as a rule of thumb.


That's what I thought. Should the whole lake be green or yellow or just a bit out from the shore?

There are no scientific publications (that I'm aware of) that definitively address this question. However, it has been my observation that local temps early in the season affect chinook staging.  So I would say that you should focus on the temps where you are fishing. In this case, just a bit out from the shore.
