Had that itch again today, wasn't able to head up to Sturgeon Lake so I figured I'd try out Port Credit, this would make it my second time there.

I get there, only to see a sign stating "No fishing" and suggesting an alternative location at JC Saddington Park.

So I played around for a bit, tried different lures, and after 45 minutes, nothing. Made my way along the rocks towards the south side, spoke to a couple of anglers there, they say they typically catch carp, catfish, silver bass, pike, and some salmon there. Also stated in a week or so salmon should be around there. One suggested I use a shiny chrome lure, so I began using my spinner. I was there 30 minutes trying it out, the others had been there twice as long and were more experienced than I, and no one was catching anything but fresh air.

Then, as I'm packing my gear to leave, this guy who had just arrived, caught a small silver bass.

Anyway, what's salmon fishing like? I hear they give a good fight. What lures work best for them? And during the salmon "run", are there really that many of them around there?

I'm going to try again next week, will be buying a couple shiny silver lures.
