Sup guys, went fishing in Hamilton today, and had an encounter with a rude people.

I started casting couple meters next to some people, I was just minding my own business, and they tell me to go away and find another spot.

There were a lot of people fishing around us too

I couldn't believe what they said, the place is public, and they acted like they owned it

Sorry guys, i don't know where to location is, one of my buddies took me there.

Just ignore. Thats what I do.

If you fish downtown Toronto, its very normal to see people harassing you about fishing. Nothing you can do except ignore.

At first, i wanted to cuss them out, but i just said sorry and left. I was so mad, but i didn't want to start anything.

Just leave it be and ignore them.  They don't own the water.

Never heard of that happening much in Hamilton I thought it was more of a Toronto thing.

I can honestly that has never happened to me in Hamilton. I have met and had conversations with hundreds of people over the last 7 years. Maybe it's because I am still fishing for carp and not repeatedly casting.

I've haven't  had any run ins with any one rude fellow fishing people while fishing in hamilton so far. But there was a few I wanted to strangle on the fishing derby day. casting over 3-5 lines and getting them all tangled.. then after explaining why not to do it... what do they do?? ........................ Ya you guessed it. an other 4 line tangle. **** smiles i just left and went elsewhere.

I can see this happening on the piers when people are salmon fishing  and I've seen it happen when the perch run is on at Port Bruce. The only time I would be rude would be when the pier is deserted and someone comes and sets up within a foot of me, I'm pretty sure that I would ask him for more space.

i wouldnt be rude, id ask nicely then if he dosent go or starts getting rude, then id get my cuss on lol

cmon its 2013. Its near impossible to not run into a rude person. At least at my neck of the woods lol. It just sucks its happening from fisherman to fisherman, this is a brotherhood, we need to unite! lol;)

I was fishing up north with some friends at Algonquin a couple of years ago. This was actually a honey hole. A few vacationers were on the same spot. Every time we yell fish on. Nobody pulls their line out. This probably went for 5 more fish until 1 of them caught a fish...and asked us to give way. My buddy walked right to him and cut his line. It was awkward and somewhat intense but they were more surprised than angry.

lol a friend of mine did something similar, he was out fishing with with friends and met the white bucket crew and as usual they all cast out over all their lines so of course he was annoyed but, mistakes happen, so after he caught a salmon he was yelling fish on telling them to reel it in but alas "no english" so after he landed it he tied on a  k13 cast over all their lines brought it in cut the lines and kept the hooks and such then left

2 m seems a bit close to me. How crowded was it? Were there other areas nearby that were available?

There were a lot of people with families fishing around us, I was just walking around and casting to see if I could find a nice honeyhole because I was only catching small catfish. I knew not to throw my line near theres. I was atleast 5 meters away from them, and whats funny is I was fishing at a spot near by earlier and the same people came near by me and my friend and fished where we were fishing. Found out where I went, its by princess point. Its not a huge place so we only had limited places to fish

Lol. My usual response is, " He,he,hee,he,hee, I like shiny things ( while he,heeing the whole time.)" ( You really need to hear my "he, heeing." For this to be effective. My, "I like shiny things" puts it over the top.) It helps if you look sort of like a mad-man who just came out of the bush after 20 years of seclustion too.
