Has anyone had experience with using a pin on a spinning rod? Just realised I had a decent pin but no rod
Just realized? You did not know that you had it before?

Anyone running 8lb promix + 6lb drennan have their mainline break before the leader?
I usually use 4lb with 8lb main and 6lb if using 10lb. Not sure but I think the fluorocarbon has a higher breaking strength than the mono so I use 4lb difference

I know for some 8lb lines, they will break for sure, but not sure about suffix promix. I run 8lb pline cxx with 6lb drennan and i've never had the main line break before the leader.

There is a post I made a while ago concerning floro breaking strengths on here with some charts but I can't seem to find it ATM.
If I remember correctly seaguar and frog hair being close to their stated breaking strength, with Drennan being sometimes close to twice its stated breaking strength?
W_boughner, Do you use braid in the winter?

And to all those with twisting issues swivel above and below your float and you will never have a twisting issue !!

Lines that break way above what's stated on the box tend to be pretty thick compared to other brands with lines of the same stated strength. For example, 8lb drennan has a wider diameter than 12lb rio fluoroflex.

i double swivel can be a issue if your running a slip float for big rivers that have holes 15+ feet but in most Ontario rivers your not more than 9 feet so a double swivel is a easy solution to line twist and if you fish the water often you know your max depth and that's where you put the top swivel .. And in the winder it will help clear your guides of icethe only issue with this is when you move to a deeper hole

they were snapping my 6 lbs floro like mad today, fresh fish I guess... I've always used 6lbs for salmon of all shapes & sizes with high % landing ratios, must be all the Fukushima radiation turning them into beasts or something lol
I just spooled the CP with 10 lbs high vis too... if I were to use 8lbs floro, the mainline should hold up,no?

I run 12lb main line with 8-10lb fluoro for salmon, and 10lb main line with 6-8lb fluoro for steelhead. The past couple of seasons I've been using Suffix Elite and I love the stuff.
