why not use a shorter and lighter rod and cast back to front t=not side to side, i fish from canoes a lot and dont have a prob

I have seen a couple people use those outrigging boards from thier canoes.
So they set thier bait at a depth and leave the float there as they paddle away. Success rate? Not sure of.

I know for kayaks at Sail they sell "portable pontoons" to attach to them so that you can stand up for fly fishing purposes or what not.

ohhhh that kind lol I've seen them for offshore fishing kayaks try an eBay search for pontoon s and cut off the actual pontoon and use 2inch pipes and weld em togetherNot that kind of outrigger lol. Im talking about a stabilizer so that i can stand up.
