Hullo y'all..I'm the new kid on the block.

Not new to fishing, just new to figuring out how to post (it took 45 minutes...I hope I got it right)

Im Ray and Im headin' out to port maitland tomorrow (saturday) to hunt for some smallies.

I'll be the guy with the 6 hp tin boat behind the grey chevy pickup if anyone cares to join me.

Going out about noon if the lake isnt too choppy. If its too rough, I'll be up the river by the dam.

I'll let you know how I did (hoping its as good as last time...15 smallies)

Well, here is my offishal report...

Skunked!!!

But I dont feel too bad because according to the O.P.P. boat that pulled EVERY boat over for inspection, nobody was catching anything...

The weather was just not on our side. No one was catching in the river and the lake was pretty rough ( 1-2 meter chop) especially on the little 10 footer.

I met an angler on the boat ramp who's mind wasnt on fishing ( he tried to launch his boat with the tie-down straps still on) When I mentioned them to him, he said he was thinking about the 240 dollar fine he got an hour before when the cops busted him for "no fire extinguisher".

Tough day -  but it was a tough day fishing

Cheers!

It was a long weekend so the OPP were out in force. The blitz was on. They pulled over every boat out there that day to check for safety equipment. When they stopped me, they asked to see all mine.(as well as my operators card)

They never even mentioned the cooler I was sitting on.( full of pepsi )

Just doing "their job" I suppose.

Because I got skunked last weekend, I'm headin' out today again to take up where I left off. I got the bigger boat (16 ft'r ) today so I might hit the reef outta Port Maitland.

I'll let you know whether I smell like fish or skunk tonite.

cheers

Well, here it is...

I got 5 big smallies (c&r) all well over 12 inch. Trouble is - the biggest one got away and took my favorite lure with him.

He was right under the boat and when I went for the net, my line touched the side of the boat and broke.

And then they were gone!!!

I think the people on the boat near me learned a new language today...

All's well - I have one in the cooler for lunch tomorrow.

Tightlines.
