Well plans changed again so now I'm going to a local east trib to do a little fly fishing but it just finished raining. Anything I should be doing differently after the rain? Normally I have great luck in the afternoon using some bh copper/black nymphs. On cloudy days I have tried everything in my fly box and had average luck. I've never been out after rainfall.

Salmon will probably be more active and with the reduced visibility in the water they will be less spooky when it comes to eating. Just a heads up, just because you don't see them, doesn't mean they're not there. I was out yesterday and the water was cloudy but still pretty visible but I couldn't see any Salmon but every once and a while you'd see a couple burst out of no where and torpedo right past your feet. Try large flashier higher visible flies.
If you're going for trout. The water will be dirtier and cloudier. Try to find deeper slower moving pools and fish beadhead flies to get deeper and have the added flash of the beadhead. Keep the presentation natural... grey, brown, possibly black ect...
Hope this helps.

"Salmon will probably be more active and with the reduced visibility in the water they will be less spooky when it comes to eating."
A rising river is never good for migratory fish. They are too busy moving on. Might as well stay home and drink beer. As far as "eating" activity goes, they aren't so you need not concern yourself with matching the hatch. In off colored water, use flies that contrast the color of the water.
Look for your river to be receding rather than rising as at this point, the salmon or steelhead will be looking to settle down and hold again.

I ended up fishing in the rain last weekend at a local place I've been fishing. I was skunked but friends using small roe bags were getting little rainbows all morning. The only thing is all my gear smells now since I didn't dry them out properly.
My car actually really stinks now.
