My questions are:

1. Is fishing good in lake scugog or is it over fished?

2. Are there  public shore spots where I can drop a line in the water? Any help guiding me there would be appreciated.

3. Is it safe enough to take my dingy out?   I have a trolling motor and will probably stay really close to shore, just enough to get out about 100 ft or so.  I ask this question because I hear that the waves on scugog can be killer, and I do not want to die.  I am often (but not always) by myself, so safety is the most important requirement on my fishing excursions!

Thanks for the help fellas!

yes it is good, if you know where to go, yes it is over fished, and no, not too many spots to shore fish from, it is not a very deep lake to begin with....think 20-25ft max, and that may be pushing it

Great job on the dingy! How did you do the mounts for the trolling motor?

I drilled 4 holes, used those hooks that you see (not sure what they are called) and butterfly nuts on the back to secure everything.

These are poor photos, will take more next time I go out.

Great job. Scugog is fine. There are plenty of places from the scugog causeway you can fish as well as docks to fish towards while on the dingy. Lots of walleye in the lake as well. Next step for you is getting a portable depth finder!

I actually have the hummingbird smart cast model! it works great, perfect for what I need.  only problem is I left it in my car during a smoldering hot day and now I need to replace the fish finder component (not the receiver).   They sell extras of this part only which means Im not the only dummy. Not so bad, $27 at Sail.

If you decide to hit up scugog at all this saturday let me know. I may be heading up there for some musky. If not I will be just fishing a bit of here and there on the shore.

Scuggog is a bowl of piss to fish. Take a drive out to minden in the Halliburton area your dingy is tailor made to the small little back lakes that you can't launch a big boat into.

Take your boat to the free launch on the island. Shore spots are usually pretty weed packed right now. Good bass and muskies with some walleye and crappie too

Just make sure you don't fall in. I tell you it's more a swamp than a lake

Oh ya I forgot to ask. Do you really go out in the dingy alone? I've seen some odd things while fishing, but never a mid-20's blonde girl in a dingy fishing out in the lake by herself. I don't mean odd like you shouldn't be out, that's awesome, just not a everyday sight out there.

island is meh....view lake or caesarea, view lake would be easier and quick access to some good bass spots

Yes you are completely right.  I have found one of those little lakes, never ever sees a fishing rod (except mine!) and the bass in this lake are trophy size, let me tell you.  They are so big, its almost unnatural.

Havent taken my boat out though,  these small lakes are deserted and if anything bad were to happen, no one would be around to help me. You'd hear about me on the news "YOUNG WOMAN DIES, FALLS OFF DINGY WHILE CATCHING ENORMOUS 12LB BASS"

Yup.  I have a flexible work schedule so its really easy for me to pick up and go (especially if I'm going local).  I dont have anyone that fishes in my family anymore (ive been fishing with my dad since i was a child but he passed away and now I'm kinda on my own with the fishing thing).  My girlfriends came with me a few times in the summer.  I fished, they tanned. lol

You know, I always get curious people asking me questions about me and my boat -- "is that yours?", "Are you really going fishing? By yourself?".   I dont mind much, I like to show off my hard work (the modifications) and its amusing because I usually have a much better set up than most fisherman using a dingy. LOL

Another thing is my favourite colour is pink, and I stick out like a sore thumb :D
