ok so we up the post count to 300 to be able to read the sub forums thats 160 people who can read it out of 5500 members i think it should be put to a poll

not the subforums, the reports section, used to be here, then went away, shouldn't be too difficult to set it up again, even is the post count is 150, thats still enough posts to be accepted and get a sense of the community

we are a community here, tied together by one thing, the love of a sport, whether it be throwing bait, drifting a roe bag, or swinging flies, we are all under one umbrella, in a sport where the costs are never ending, why add on another cost just to gain access to information that may, or may not be useful

if you are referring to me I am not promising anything its only suggestions--of what it should and what most pay sites do...JMATT its an option not a mandate--you can stay exactly where you are with exactly what you have--otherwise you pay and get prizes and get in on trips paid for in part by the money generated by the membership fees. its a simple concept one of which a billion sites of every genre already do..

and there you go baiting people again......

i don't have to pay a cent to enter into draws, theres plenty of retailers and companies that offer free draws every month

and in case you're not counting, theres more people against this idea than there is for it

agred however--every other aspect of this sport is pay to play--why should the place we spend hours on end every day not have an option to pay to get more from the site than a regular member..i don't understand this concept at all.,soon facebook will have fees and everyone will whine for onths about it --in the end the people who didn't want to upgrade wont and life will continue and the others will get a personal letter for mark...

I think a lot of people are going to far over the top again with ideas. people have big plans about OFF t-shirts and where has that gone? 1 Thing is for sure, if we had an OFF store, that would generate a good revenue to help keep this site going. Also, if we did have an OFF recreational get together. I know I can get us great rates and could use my GF's resort as a place to get together every summer and fish and go over things. I think it would be cool to have something like that where we have our one place to go to and have instructors and what not to help people learning to properly fish certain baits. I think donations would be great to help pay for things like that or to run events with prizes and what not for OFF tournaments. Sponsors for the site would be cool. Getting major fishing companies to toss in an ad here and there would be great.

great you have every right to enter them but if you want to enter the OFF draw you have to be a paying member--and when there is a draw for a prize something offsets the cost whenther you see it or not...

But 1 thing is for sure. You need to have a membership with the site to read the forums. I have given plenty of tips and details to active MEMBERS and I see a lot of randoms not signed in looking at the forums and reading my tips.

you still haven't answered why this is needed?  there is no reason for a paid only section when it can solved with simple programming

what do you expect? canada isnt a heavily populated place... fishing isnt THAT big of a thing here in my opinion.
and this place is geared only towards ontario,  so having 160 people over 100 post isnt that bad statistically.

because you cant have prizes and raffles and OFF funded outings without MONEY...its a simple business equation --NO MONEY=NO MONEY--simple programming ensures privacy but you cannot fund a BBQ or a monthly prize with love and brath mint you need MONEY..

So I think the question is: how many members want BBQs and prizes? if not enough ppl do, paid memberships seem pointless.

sure you can, if you read my previous post, someone puts an item up for a raffle, a little button appears, "BUY RAFFLE TICKETS HERE" people buy tickets, once value of the item is reach, a draw date is set, the person who put up the item for raffle gets the money for the value of the item, the extra money goes into a fund

That is why we are having this discussion... if enough people are willing to go ahead with this then we are talking about $200 monthly prize packs, plus the BBQ's.
