Its too long to read all the posts, sorry if I am re-posting in here.

 

I am in for a paid site, but I can see the other side of the coin as well. This will become a 2 tiered site paid and non paid, whats stopping the WBB from just staring a membership?

life is two tiered brother--best part is we aren't talking making the nonpay members view pics only--all will be the same just a handful of folks will be entered into stuff and have other options...holy cow--thank god off isn't changing their name ---there would be suicides....

Not trying to start a fued here, but Remy insted of trying to change this site why dont you just join one of the many other sites with paid memberships. And continue to be a regular member here?

when you move into a community and get to know your neighbours--and see a way to have better BBQs and devise a way where a bigger pool will be made for the local kids--would you push for it knowing that some will object to your stance or do you pack up and move?

Again at this time  i can not say that i am for or against the idea juist need more info and feed back. I work in a enviroment where change is VERY common so it is not change the worries me it is how is this going to be controlled and will it benefit all paid members not just a few.

the site admin/owner has not chimed in at all--in business this is assumed as waiting us out or just not replying because there is no interest. since there is no purchase going on the waiting out idea is dead--and so is this one--if openfire or whomever owns the site and makes the final call has not involved himself in this publicly yet after this many posts its  a dead deal--mark my words discussion is over....everyone can get back in their comfort zone and back on the conveyor belt.

for those on a budget, like my self, i would most definitely NOT subscribe to a payed forum, all it would do is create more controversy and drama....oh you want to come to this event?....yea....oh, i see you aren't a payed member, you can;t come.....thats a bunch of BS that we don't need.  the coding should be easy enough, bring back the reports section, have a minimum post count of say 250-300 to unlock this feature,...by setting the post count that high, it allows the person to become involved with the community, and for the community as a whole to be involved with that person

Very good point made here. There is lots of good people in the fishing community that dont always have pockets full of money. In my experiance post counts work....it forces the lurkers to be involved and dedicate to commitment to the site. I for one would not pay to be a member of any forum. Once that starts watch the members drop.

personaly i think this is a push for someone to feel like they belong to something by paying into it, hence the term club tossed around

Instead of asking the boreds to change what about adopting the idea as a seperate entity. You dont nessesarliy want or need the OFF name.

 

Start a "fly only" club and go from there. Maybe a little something to OFF or the owner to cross advertise the fly club?

 

If you are that passionate, why wait around and just do for yourself/fly community?

So this topic started less than 24 hours ago but is a dead subject because openfire hasnt responded?

I'm fairly new in relative terms, 6 months and I'm not posting random 1 word answers or chiming in on EVERY post just so I can have a higher post count. I reply on only maybe 1 in 5 of topics that I read. Does that make me a lurker? Maybe I just have nothing nice or useful to say. It will be a while until I hit 300 but if I get locked out of certain areas for not rushing there... meh, no biggie.

 

Honestly if the site adds a paid feature I'd stop using it, just my opinion but there are already enough 'cliques" on here and I'm not going to play into any of them. I'll just go back to randomly investigating places and talking to strangers in person.

 

Remy... I don't think anyone spends as much time on here as you... maybe you could just pay for the site yourself? You are impatient man... let the ideas flow. I for one am not in favor but other may be.
