From my very limited experience at BPS, the store is very understaffed. Once i went to ask where they keep the snap swivels and all the staff were super busy explaining random stuff to others. I had to stand next to a guy for 10min before he even noticed i was there lol. The guy that i was standin next to seemed kinda knowledgeable, but then again the stuff he was explaining was pretty basic. He dis explain it in good detail so I can say that there is at least 1 good guy at BPS. The customers seemed satisfied so he did his job.

I only went to the fly section once when the register beside the line section was broken or something. The cashier seemed pretty nice, although not very knowledgeable on the product? Since BPS dont label the lb strength on their snaps, I asked the guy and he said 100lb lol. Im pretty sure a little snap less than 2cm long would not hold 100lb. Overall, other than the very understaffed fishin section, and the not so bright fly section, id give it a 7/10. This is only based on 3 visits so dont hound me on it lol.

Someone mentioned Wilsons earlier? About 15yrs ago I went to their old Queen St. store and was treated like crap. Tried on a pair of waders and left. Maybe because of the way I looked. Just got back from sailing in the BVI's. Shoulder length hair & beard (2yrs).LOL. They sell Simms waders. Sail and BPS have the same wader for less. I'll probably spend my $350 at Sail instead of BPS because they're closer to home. Cheers

My statement is pretty clear and easy to get. Just saying that if you were in the fishing department and asking for help and the customer service sucked, it was probably because someone was being a dick when asking for help. It happens.

Well I can tell you I won't be back anytime soon, shall I forward this link to the manager?

BLV me, the managers wouldn't care anyway. there all scrabbling for there jobs in Vaughan now anyway. Store will be shut down in less than 2 years. Lease is up, and BP doesn't want to renew.

Why would BPS not want to renew their lease ? I find that hard to believe. What? Did Sail kick their ass already? I don't think so. Toronto and the Southern Ont. market is big enough. Cabelas in Barrie might cut in a bit but I think they can handle it. Hey! Maybe they'll all start kissing our ass.

Why would they do that? They are opening another store in Niagara next year, unless they close the one and only have the one in Niagara might be less competion down there

Really dont care not a fan of BP.

cabelas will take away basically the portion of folks that travel to the store from barrie, most of them are hunters that will end up there anyway. The vaughan location would actually lose most of the hamilton region too for the Niagara one opening. They will still make their quotas but wont be as busy that is for sure.

I would say I frequent Sail the most but prefer bass pro but I live in Burlington so Sail is easier to get to.  I also will hit Canadian Tire for simple things and I like looking around at Grimsby Tackle and Fishing world.

dude i read your statement "loud & clear"...you didn't say someone was being a dick...read again...your words not mine...I underlined it in case you missed it.

"Customer service from where in BPS sucks? If it is from the fishing department you must have been a pretty big dick to us to receive poor customer service."

didn't say I got poor customer service, I just said it feels like BPS is understaffed when it gets busy.

Meh, A store like BP gets busy but they have like 8-10 staff members and yes it at that point seems to be understaffed. Thats the most staff in one place that I have seen. 8-10 staff members for about 50-80 customers at the busy times in the fishing specific department.

BP gets RAMMED! they probably employ welll over 100 people...so I wouldnt complain. I fishing dept. on the busy days has like 10 staff usually, so its not bad at all. These days no one wants to wait for anything, people have this crazy sense of entitlement for no reason and want instant gratification.

Speak for yourself. @ BP if you know what you are looking for, your in and out. I do agree if you do need a staff memeber you are often times waiting 20 minutes or more. I am sure they will remedy this. Ultimatly Basspro is in this to make money. They know time is money, they probally loose a ton of sales for those people who go in there with that rush mentality.

Hey Jason,

Please read the OP, we are looking for outdoors store, not bait and and tackle shops. Looking for a deptartment style store that is geared specifically to the outdoors. Ex. Camping, hunting, fishing ect.

Sail, Lebaron and Canadian Tire. Canadian Companies all the way!!!

I only go to Bass Pro to look around. It's more of an attraction than anything.
