Anyone have a point of view on the G Loomis Native Run 10 foot 7 weight for steelhead? I prefer a lighter rod and have seen some comments that this rod may cast heavy? Thanks.

I used one for several years and was not all that fussed with it.  Despite Loomis' claims that it is a better rod than the old classic it was not.  Clunky is how I describe it.  Look at the The Sage One or the Method.

Thanks Rob.

Concerning Sage, I assume that the VXP is a lower quality rod but does it get the job done with a smooth cast?

VXP is one of my favorites. It's basically the old XP which is one of their best.

Rob is correct...I fish an XP...I will be buried with that rod...
VXP is also great...little heavier than the TCX and not as fast...
Gotta cast a lot of rods before you find what fits your needs and technical skills best...
