Banning salmon fishing wont stop it from happening, we need more enforcement, that is what is going to make the difference

even the "good guys " for the most part  are taking advantage of 100000000 fish in a ditch going the opposite direction of their bait no? either way I think its gotta go..enforcement will never happen --gov wont even spend money on education for kids nevermind saving a fish, I hear ya though it would be great for more enforcement but its not gonna happen-Wynn and Ford only care about money and women lol

IN reality, there are much more important things than ...salmon. But that doesnt mean this should be ignored. People are just uneducated and unaware of what is happening, this means there is not enough attention paid to this subject. I always have my phone on me and if I ever see blatant disregard for common decency towards the fish, or our environment, I will take a photo. I just dont know what and even if the MNR can do anything with those photos

you mean the farmed fish whose sole existence is for feeding us or the fishing vessels that a highly regulated that put fish on the table? no we cool.for the most part   its the people sitting shoulder to shoulder like the killing fields fishing that piss me off..me being one of them..somehow this salon thing makes people do nutso things..keep in mind I am not captain of the sea sheppard I just think some things we do to salmon are not cool

farmed fish are gross, and full of steroids and what not. Organically farmed fish or wild caught (they have strict limits so no one is taking more than they should) are best.

 

I think this allure of "salmon" being available for free is what draws these people (and myself ) to the rivers every year. People hear the word salmon and they think of whats being sold in stores for $20/lb, so they flock to the rivers and pillage as much as they can. I dont eat chinook, because they are gross. However I lived in the GB area, and caught some cohos or other species, id take them home for sure

so you're saying you support the japanese trawlers in canadian waters dredging our ocean floors ruining habitats?  how about all the by-catch that is discarded over the rail because its deemed unprofittable?   

 

for some people salmon are the largest sport fish they will ever have the opprotunity to catch, so i understand the thrill of catching one of these monsters. personnally, i release every river/creek salmon i catch, unless it is a spawned out female, which i keep for a friend to feed his dogs, i mean,its going to die, its already done its business, so theres no problem keeping it when caught by legal methods

I don't get it either. A conversation I had with the MNR CO kinda confused me a little but also did educate me alot.

SALMON ARE NOT NATIVE to these waters. Somehow Chinnys have been successfully replanted and stocked. They have no issues reproducing in our waters. Thus the 10 fish limit. Rainbow Trout on the other hand are still struglling with survival in our waters and are still showing signs of evolving and settling in our waters. thus the 2 fish limit.

 

Salmon- They do reproduce and die, everyone knows this. I thnk the education needs to come in where the life cycle comes in. Also I think the subject has been beat to death, you are going to solve anything sitting behind a computer bitching and complaing. Other than an online movement there isnt anything that can be done from behind your computer.

we should make a fake mnr officer card with english on it that say " this is not a real mnr officer" and pull it out when we talk to snaggers that pull the no english bull s*** and when they read it and make a face saying what is this just be like so you DO  know english and then call the mnr, and besides what does not speaking english have to do with getting away with a crime. I could murder someone and when the cops show up at my house ill just say no english and expect me not to be charged

I love all the "shoulda woulda coulda" that always happen on this topic. Why don't some of you that are more upset than others put an action plan in place?  I agree with you all but just @$%#$% and whining on an internet forum isn't getting you anywhere. You think the authorities don't already know whats up?

Yea sure, you walk up with a 6' 350lbs man there with a group of friends and a MNR badge. Ill pay you $100 cash to do it and try to correct that situation. See if they allow you to walk away. Headlines will read "Another 12 year old boy swallowed by river" Good one.
