Rapala Shift right hand reel.

Good for you. We all have to start somewhere.
You might end up hating CPS. Who knows.
I'm still holding out and searching for a CP that doesn't require $ of useless backing. And I'm sure I'll find one.
Takes time.

Yeah next on the list is decent waders, I had a set but they leaked after four outings, took them back. Got sucked into the old use to be $250 not on sale for $99, there is a reason!!

RSG custom reels. I think he uses a shallow spool on all of his reels.

Mike over at www.riversedgereels.ca also uses a shallow spool design (225y of 8lb promix), at a quarter the price of rons reels. His new run worked out all the kinks of his original series, worth a look also.

tossing iron, alot of older model reels that were made in the 90s era were built tough and didnt need backing but were a bit on the heavy side.....if you could find an old LG custom or similar reel like the river runners 1 or 2 model or an old tournament drifter.... they dont require backing either some guys use old mono as backing for those old reels....i think there is a river runner for sale on kijiji for pretty cheap. or you could step it up to the high end reels low number customs as mentioned above like the rsg reels or even an al taylor, you wont find many of those reels around for sale, just gotta keep your eye out and expect to dump a gnote or more on one of those..
