I know it's definitely a possibility. What have you done? What do you want to do? I'm talking about Centerpins of course, half the point of fishing is looking better then the guy beside you. Am I right or am I right.

It doesn't matter what anything looks like what matters is does it work. Yes its nice to have nice gear but nice flashy gear doesn't mean more fish

I think it's nice having good looking gear and all, but who cares what reel some random guy on river is using?

Now Simms, that's another story

I like to think of trout fishing as "golf". You put on your best clothes (waders, vest, boots), you clean and shine up your best equipment (rod, reel). You basically go all out to have the best of the best, to look your best, even if its not an indicator of your performance

Your worrying about the wrong things my man! Some of the grubbiest bums I ever did run across have been some of the best fishermen! I like nice things as much as the next guy, and have some very expensive gear accumulated over many years, but I sure don't worry about what I'm wearing, or how fancy my rig is! I go out to enjoy myself, and maybe catch a few fish! Steelheading has become a swelled head fashion show, and I sometimes find it embarrassing as to how guys walk around with their noses in the air, and crapping on newbs and people with less experience. It's shamefull! If your fishing for fashion... Your in it for the wrong reasons!

oh no, dont get me wrong, Im not saying it SHOULD be about fashion or that I do it for those reasons.

I was just equating the gear that we wear to golfers who look forward to putting on THEIR best gear ( not meaning a $700 rod and $500 reel) but whatever they have and value. For example, I dont have simms, or a king pin or islander reel, but I do have decent "starter" gear and I look forward to wearing it every time I go out. I think you should enjoy what your wearing and what your fishing with because for me, thats also part of the experience.

I HATE though, when people look down on others because they have "crappy" gear. I started fishing when I was 5, came to Canada at 9 years old and been fishing here ever since with my dad. We didnt come with much, and certainly are not rich right now. We started with canadian tire gear and valued every hook and sinker we had because it was expensive. Now that I have a decent job, paid off university...I can allow myself to have the things I always wanted but never allowed myself...and that makes me enjoy the decent gear that I have so far accumulated. But because I know where I came from and knowing that having $1000 gear doesnt give you any better chance of catching a fish than the guy with $100 gear, I never, ever look down on anyone that has "cheap" stuff.

I myself am a perfect example I don't wear all the fancy gear but I do have some really nice rods and reels and my terminal tackle is top notch I wear basspro waders when I wear them and I use an old pair of running shoes as boots I use a cheap pack from dollar store slung over my shoulder to hold all my gear I usually have a plad jacket or something like that on and some cheap pants from goodwill and in the real cold weather I have a basspro snow suit its not that I can't afford the best I just don't care about what I look like I have a really good paying job and I can fish like a motherf!@?$er I often Catch high numbers of fish when all the "fancys" are getting skunked lmao but in all honesty I'm gonna spend the money on some Simms because if you fish as much as I do any others will wear out pretty fast I fish for steelies about 100 days a year and a nice non leaking pair of waders would be nice lol and ya now were way off topic custom pins are nice but unless you get a one off its not a real custom in my opinion I own one and don't use it all that much due to the high$$$ value I usually use my kingpin imperial its solid as a rock and can take a beating that's my two cents on the topic
