Live bait for bass is cheating!

How so?

Actually where I do most of my fishing I am not targeting Bass, I am targeting Fish. Would that still be cheating according to your theory?

I usually spend a lot of time searching the waters during the fall transitions because I find everything is changing and evolving for winter.  For the most part I use the same lures throughout the whole season  mepps, senkos, spinners. spoons, crank baits, fish imitation or live bait on certain occasions, senkos are definitely one of my favourite lures they have caught a lot of bass for me consistently throughout the year and different locations. The point is its not so much what u r using it is where u are fishing and the speed of retrieval  move around and try different spots, if u have fished a spot for 15 mins and no action move on and come back later but make sure you fish it thoroughly.   As well because the water temps are cooling fish can become a bit lethargic so you have to slow down your retrieve and presentation,  pausing during your retrieve also helps quite a bit especially with crank baits especially early in the morning.  Overall just slow everything down and don't make your presence known to fish in the area once your cover is blown move on .

I love bobber fishing for bass. I don't know about live bait being a cheat for fishing bass. I've used spinners mainly for bass on a very good hole...fast return...more fish. if the hole is very generous...i only use #4 panther martin big belly silver or #2 aglia fire tiger. i have also caught bass with salted tubes or senkos...but i always go back to bobber and worm...the only downside is when you're fishing multi species water. you will be getting a lot of panfish and catfish mixed with bass.

I'm with you. When ever I go scouting water, I always have some worms and minnows if it is not too much of an inconvenience, cause something will always hit, and it allows me to find out what is living in there.

 That will be an introduction of new species or worms, parasites to the water I'm fishing.

i like to think it does but I use scent as well soak em overnight atleast then remove from the scent and salt those bad boys like mcd's fries...

Same thing I always use for bass 18lbs braid for a 3lbs fish and worms.

 

 

I lie LOL I just dont get the challenge in that. I know with different action baits, you need a heavier line, however a 18-25lbs braid ccccc'monnnnnnn! thats a bit much.

 

But I have always had success on those $0.97 bags of plastic grubs with the spinning tail from Wal-Mart, matter a fact I bought 2 bags of every color they offer. Clear sunny days - year round black/brown works. Overcast days greens/yellows/white work well.

 

Once upon a time I ran out of baitholder hooks, instead of calling it a day I started using Salmon hooks. Found for some reason I can hook em better with less snags on weeds/branches and whatever.

I think it's purpose is more for the buoyancy of the bait...

#1 has to be a wacky rigged Senko. I've been using the 5" in a green colour and it just produces everytime. Might not get big fish, but you'll get 1-2 lb ers all day long. Trick is once you find a spot that has some bass taking the Senko, you can then switch it up and give them a wide variety of things to bite. I go from 5" senko, to a Panther Martin 15 in gold, if there's fish in the water your fishing, those will make em bite.

So is using a gill net in my opinion but if you are native and born in Robinson Superior Treaty Territory it's ok.

If using live minnows is against your religion you could always use Gulp Minnows... 

Gulp Minnows work well  enough even though you need to impart some kind of action to them and they do not pose a risk of introducing unwanted disease/parasites or species to the system you are fishing.

Don't take me out of the equation, I use worm too .... but not minnows. That will be an introduction of new species or worms, parasites to the water I'm fishing.

Actually the minnows I buy are caught from the same body of water I am fishing, I have made certain of that. I can take you to the traps.

You look like you are a responsible fisherman and know very well too ..... going to the traps ... it's OK no need to.

You look like you are a responsible fisherman and know very well too ..... there are procedures that can be done catching your minnows on same body of water using net .... that will cut your expenses too on buying.

I do the same for walleye! I only use 2 methods of fishing for walleye. Seeing as I hate trolling, i tend to find big weed beds and rip buckhaired jigs to find the bigger ones. As well as fish with a jig head and bounce it off the bottom with minnows. best way to produce some fish!
