are joints that are wide apart, with 2 rings joined together that lets it move in a wide range, like this, better:

or close together, with a join thats only moves from side to side, like this, better:

I want to try a jointed crankbait, but not sure if one style of joint is better than the other.

The rapala jointed ones are my favorite. The 2nd style represents what looks like Savage Gear's baits. I really dislike savage gear for musky fishing so I can't picture the others are that great.

Rapala are mine fav by far. i think you sould get 2 or 3 o each and find out what worksbest or you.

You gotta love innovation in the fishing industry. I think you will find the tried and tested Rapala jointed minnow to be a staple for the fishing world. The newer style swim baits are booming on the market and people are catching monsters with this type of bait. It never hurts to try new baits and this is one of them. They also make it in a crank bait but I rather have a solid body crank bait. I think you will be very impressed with the action on the multi jointed baits over weed flats and open water. Your gonna have to spend a bit of money to get a quality swim bait to produce fisher big but the rewards are awesome :)
