You should have seen my first flies wooooo ,what a sad looking bunch they were . I have been tying now for over 30 years and had some pretty good coaches over those years , but the best teacher I ever had the pleasure to watch was Lee Wolf when he was alive . What an artist he was . Truly an inspiration to all of us who tie flies . Keep at it and you will get nothing but better . It is a great pass time . Just remember that most of the pretty flies are for us fisherpeople not the fish , the uglier ones are the ones the fish seem to like more . Look forward to seeing more of your ties . Tight lines and good tying .

It might be a drive but you'll save the money that you spend in gas on hooks, material and time in your first week. Seriously though, down town can help you as well.

lol good job jmatt I honestly couldn't tell u what makes a good fly except don't crowd the eye with thread just kidding they actually look great and #1 looks like u started off well but the final wrap with that black thread messed U up... no worrys hooks are pretty cheap and practice makes perfect.
And your re attempt of the bugger looks a lot better
