Getting Shallow Diving Baits Down To The Fish

I hear j13s are good for salmon so I went out a bought a few. On a long cast they maybe dive to 5' when the fish are at 12'. How can I get them down without affecting action or modifying the lure?

Salmon are always moving and will rise to feed on bait fish so you don't need to get it down to them .. Bass pike and walleye on the other hand are ambush feeders that you need to get down close to them to get them to move and take the bait
