My intrepretation of this forum, as FG said its mroe of a club. You get it or you don't. For me I get sarcastic bc certain things are beaten to death and dragged thru town. ex-salmon fish bait. How many times can people explain about roe and wooly buggers? "search the forums" is more or less the poliete way to phrase an answer.

 

Just in a way to laugh it off, Syrup on a spoon while using a fly rod. I didn't think I needed to make it more obvious that I was joking espically when others are saying to heat it up and what not. I didn't realize people would actaully take that on and I do apologize. I will refrain from that in the future.

 

I think the naming rivers thing needs to be enforced more, then techniques and different approaches can be discussed more openly on the forum. As for racial slurs, its a tough one to enforce and alot of comments are left up to intepretation. For me I use the term "borris" in no way is that ment to be a racial slur, others can intpret that differently.

 

At the end of the day, its the internet, we are all on here for our interest/passion/curiousity of fishing. The respect thing is somehting that needs to ramped up on I am not saying I am not guilty but if we all did respect each other a bit more, I am sure there owuld be less of this "E-thuggery"

Respect goes a long way here. You can't measure it by post count. You can measure it by the quality of the posts. I won't deny I have learn a lot from OFF. But as I said before, all the techniques discuss here can be found anywhere in the interwebs. The reason why I hang around is because there is so much to learn and believe me, the trolls here (if there are some) pales in comparison to other forums (not only fishing). We need to give more respect to new members...remember at some points we were noobs as well. It could be the same reason others chose to just lurk and not join at all. More members more people gets educated on how to take care of fisheries...more fish for you and me.

New members I think need more or less a guideline prior to being able to post. On other forums you HAVE to post information about you prior to being able to ask questions. Those are more or less Automotive or sound clubs I belong to.

 

It goes a long way, there is a standardized form you fill out and your first post can be made for you

 

Your name,

Region

gear

target species

years actively fishing

ect

 

Its a great way to find out about new people and its alot less intimidating for that first post. Everyone has different styles, this just takes teh guess work out of it.

 

I have learned TONS from OFF, all the while making new freinds and haven fun. I do realize there are people on here who cannot stand me, but like in real life. There are people who cannot stand you, only difference is you are behind a computer so there isnt any need to corrispond.

This is a good Forum for everyone to learn what we don't know yet and share what we already know. New or old member should be treated the same IMO. I encourage everyone to learn as much and as fast as you can, report any comments you're not comfortable with or If you see any comments which is not good for others to see, we have mix age of people reading all this posts. You guys can PM or report me If I do the same. Tight line everyone !

it's a great forum, most likely the best fishing forum around. People don't always get along that's just life, heck families don't always get along and they know each other, why would we expect to be better than a family?...because we like it here and we want it to feel like a second family, remember everybody wants respect and to feel like what they say matters so what ever the question please answer it respectfully, after all, if someone came up to you on the street and asked you something i'm sure you would answer politely, I'm not talking about trolls here like the one that attacked CC and CT, I'm talking about members of the OFF family, let's show each other some respect.
