Was out yesterday in a Lake O trib. Thought I'd try upstream first for pike and bass with a jerk bait and a crank. No luck. So threw on a spoon and trolled in and around the mouth in the deeper water hoping for a salmon. Got a tug on the line and fish was on. Turned out to be a decent sized pike.

Next cast the spoon flew off. Forgot to check the line. I don't use leaders. Oh well, it was a dollarama spoon. Guess I'll be heading back to the dollar store soon.

Thanks for looking.

thx. i would have thought someone whose made over 3000 posts would be an all conquering angler and caught dozens of species in dozens of places. but then again your name has the word noob in it. but then again you also might only target one or two species only. i am so confused right now. lol.

Love those handles. Don't be surprise to catch more of these now. Check the edges of your spoon too. I don't use leader as well. Gives better action to you lure.

I fish for anything that is available, pike, bass, carp, catfish, suckers, chub, trout, sunfish, perch, walleye, bowfin, if it lives in water and has gills, I will fish for it. My luck just sucks, so my species list isn't that long... :D

that's how i started out. now i concentrate more on bass and pike unless it's before those seasons open or when it's too cold for me to go on the boat. i still only have one walleye and just caught my only drum a few weeks ago.

Sweet catch!

I wanna catch one so bad.  The closes thing I came to a pike was when it ate my bluegill off my hook.

Now is the time to target them. same presentation as bass and normall the same lures or bait...but slower retrieve. I missed to catch a pike 4x last saturday but then i was targeting bass. as soon as they're within 3 feet they abandon the chase.

^^^

It's so hard for me to go pike/bass fishing now especially since I got my waders.  The river is a 15min walk from my house.
