Fished Fifth Depot Lake this past weekend. The fishing was quite good. The big bass are out fattening up for the winter. I had the most luck casting black Hula Poppers over weed beds in the evening and drop shotting a smoke-coloured X-Zone Swammer around mid-lake weed humps and sunken timber. Wacky rigged Senkos also worked well. More aggressive presentations, like crankbaits and inline spinners, were not producing. In all, I managed to land around 20 fish including 6 largemouth and 1 smallmouth in the 15-17 inch range and a couple skinny pike.
Now's the time to get out in the Land O'Lakes!
