I’d like to thank NADO for organizing the event this year, for taking over when CC bowed out. Thanks also to FH Mike for his free sample floats and tips. I caught a bow shortly after he gave me those. As the token old geezer I didn’t feel out of place. I quite enjoyed it. As someone already said, meeting new people and putting faces to names are the main things. For me, as a relative newcomer to this obsession called steelheading, getting some tips for the pros and watching others’ technique was great.
I can understand folks dropping out because of work or other commitments but for the weather?? Really? Wimping out for a few clouds and a breeze??? Sounds pretty lame!

I did man... shes all good.
I'm serious though, it does seem very rewarding.
Its a lifelong pursuit of technique perfection, insect science, fly tying art, equipment collection... all this on top of understanding fish habitat and migration that other fisherman need to know.
I tie the odd rudimentary fly; buggers, bead heads, hair jigs, playing around with nymphs....
I would not have the patience to take up fly fishing though.
