What are your favourite flies for smallmouth guys? Woolly buggers of course are in there, but the question I have is do you weight your buggers with lead/nonlead material or not? What other flies is everyone using for smallies

I really think you should take a look at the TFO NXT, I have an 8wt of theirs and it's a pretty good rod for the price, you can test cast mine if you want.

Grayer: there are lots of good flies for them, buggers, stoneflies, ep minnows, clousers, any baitfish or crayfish imitation really.

Poppers and mouse patterns are probably my two favourites for bass, smallies or largies

I just picked up a bunch of mouse patterns to try out this year. I have never tried them, I don't know why as they are effective here. I will be trying them on rainbows and on grayling. I came across a picture somewhere of a grayling with a huge mouse pattern fly in its mouth. Since I do an annual dry fly fishing trip for grayling I will test out the mouse pattern on them. Can't wait for this season

Wow, those must be some big grayling! Everything I've heard about them is to go small.

I bet if you try that in the shallower more ever grown pools in the headwaters of certain rivers you'd get quite the response

There's on fairly tight, pristine east steelhead creek I think they may work on

Why would you go to Sail when you have at least 3 fly shops within 45 - 60 minutes of you.
