I just got myself an atv, a trailer, a portable fish finder, a black betty, i'll get a heater tomorrow and i'll start building my portable hut tomorrow.....I can't wait...bring on the ice, if I don't see any ice in the next 2-3 weeks I'll be driving for it lol

you don't really need any special gear, grab a cheap UL combo, an axe and some minnows, go catch some perch or trout and see how you like it! (Obviously use caution with an axe or similar)

You don't need any special rod or reel either unless you are sight fishing or fishing in a hut. Just use your regular rod and reel.OR, if you have a broken rod just drill a hole in a piece of wooden dowel and insert a piece of the rod tip. Red Green the reel to the dowel with duct tape.

The feeling of first ice is overwhelming like a kid going ice fishing. Same feeling for the last 12 years. LOL!

ok, looks good for north bay, there are a few lakes around there that have open all year lakers and whities and are shallow, I'm set! hopefully december 15th ill be smashing whities just like last year!
