From what I read online, even the super duper expensive Simms waders do leak, get holes, etc. In fact, I saw a blog post from a guide, whose waders were patched from end to end.
In conclusion, I am starting a rivalry brand, as clearly there is money to be made in actual high quality waders!

They have life time warranty. Patagonia I say is better over all than Simms, we are talking customer service. Waders should be par at the same level.
They were charging this fellow for repairs, I don't think it's a lifetime warranty that includes free repairs for life, there are limitations and certain expenses are incurred by the customer, though I am aware sometimes large companies waive the fees or replacement costs from time to time.

Ya, maybe it's a lemon but you wouldn't expect something that doesn't have more then 42 hours in them to fail. Especially something wearing such an "incredible" product name.
but that's exactly what a lemon is, don't worry simms will take care of them

LOL I understand you. But I always hear about how good the G3's are because everyone has G3's. I am just frustrated. You would be, wouldn't you?Why is it shitty to say "I have never had a problem with my G3's." The g3's are my first pair of Simms waders and am very happy with them. You asked if Simms brand, not a specific wader, was all it's talked up to be. In my experience owning a pair I would say yes. I have friends with the headwaters and freestones with no complaints as well. It's obvious that the materials on the g3 and up are of higher quality, but that's not saying that the others aren't quality waders. I stand by these waders and will always purchase them. Just stating my opinion on Simms brand waders, not specifically the headwaters, as opinions is what was asked by this thread regarding Simms. Just my two cents, for what it's worth. No fighting, just saying

Almost time to call Simms about it.

Like any mass produced item some slip through quality assurance, hopefully they honour any warranty and don't charge anything. I've had Bare for years with several patches, heard good things about Patagonia's and Orvis.

I will be contacting Simms after trout completely closes. Obviously I want to try and take advantage of the season until the end.
I also think it is good to post the bad things about very reputable companies. Say Simms pays for all my return shipping and completely fixes my waders, then that's an A+ for them. That would give them just that much more credibility.

They have life time warranty.
Ok, time to clear up some things. Lifetime is not your lifetime, it's the lifetime of the waders and depending on which you buy, that lifetime could range from 2-8 years. I see the "life time warranty" all the time being thrown out but the ciritical piece that's never talked about is the one i just mentioned.
I jumped on the Simms bandwagon yesterday Hoping, and expecting, to have them for a few years without issues. We'll see how that plays out.
Crankypants' sig is the truest statement.
btw.. Simms G3 are going up in price next year.. $500+ (around $550 i think so if you're thinking of buying them, get it now before the 2013 can't be found any longer).
