yes but if you don't see others out don't try it without being very careful. The lake in that area has a pretty even bowl shape to it, but there is one small hump near snake.

the fishing near the islands is very good but we will probably try to find a spot closer to shore as it is a far walk there and probably unsafe for cars that far. It has enough ice to hold cars but since we will be there so early, most likely no cars will be out, so i recommend walking first then later if you see a pick-up driving around with no issues, go for it but a hut if you have one would be a wise choice.

so..the general consensus is 6-7am? I would be at the ibp lot around 6am, hoping to be set up by 7. Look for a grey subaru wagon.

I should be there 7-8.
Basschaser, all you really need are some baits and a rod, lots of augers will be in the area.

I heard on the radio this morning a 14 year old called the cops. He was walking on the ice out around fox or snake island and heard the ice cracking. The cops drove there air-boat out and {saved} the kid. The boy was from the area. Anyone else hear this on KICKS106 radio today?? Not sure what to think of this radio story.... Did the kid over-react to the slush ice on top or is there thin ice out around fox and snake islands??

Def could be a pressure crack as there is always one from IBP to fox but more than likely it was simply ice forming, it will be safe, don't worry guys
but really windy, lol

simcoe would be a bad place to go for lakers especially with a big group but with a small group we could fish some lakes in muskoka where they actually bite more then 5 times a day, lol, i doubt the ice was pressure cracking as it was -temps all day long, i am almost 100% sure it was just ice forming like Chris said.

I am going to see how this outting is, then maybe I will put one on up here on lake Joe for lakers somtime in Feb. I Just Need to see how many People would%are going to show up. Can not have 20Plus cars Parked at a cottage to go ice fishing up here it would be a mess. Like I said, I will see what this outing if like and then deside If I can find a spot that is large enough for an OFF fishing outing.

on the sidenote if the tackle store is closed on yonge and 89 for some reason, the convenience store beside it have minnows pre packed on bags,, I guess the owner leaves it to her to sell to other anglers who missed their operation hours, but you guys are heading out early so, I think there is no reason for him to be closed

Weather forecast is saying high winds.. Should we be looking into some huts? is there place to rent one or something?
Should be fine either way but the last thing i want is to be uncomfortable all morning
