I was down in Orilla Thursday, sleds and perm shacks are out of lake Cooch there was 5 inch of ice in the one marina. Lots of people a tromblys tackle box too. And I have seen afew posting of FB for people getting perch on simco already. all sounds good.

Buddy of mine was fishing a small lake near parry sound for pike and there was 8 inch of ice on it. seems like winter is here good good

i was on couch thursday, about 1 km out from tudhope, there were 2 permanent huts out and that was it, one hugging shore, the other out where i went, neither were getting fish, the guy near shore got 3 sinks from 3 hours of fishing and the guy way out got nothing, about 600 m out the ice gets from 8 to 4 inches though.

A few expierienced ice fishermen from the forum will be hitting Lake Simcoe perch out of Inisfil Beach on Sunday January 19th, 2014.

Just thought I would re-post this so everyone knows the date and time.

Getting pumped for the outing. grabed some honey worms and micro jigs from walmart.

Perching hasn't been  the greatest at this location so far, but some whites have been making an appearance off IBP! :)

went out yesterday on G-bay for some perch (practice for the get togeather) on the ice from 10PM till 4PM. There was 6 of use out fishing 25 to 70 feet of water. We caught 250 plus perch most around 5 inch long, largest was 11inch. Only perch thou, no crappie, no sunfish, no rockbass, just yellow perch. I brought 10 fish home cleaned them up last night, going to eat them for super tonight.

found out the line on my one rod is rotten and that one line I have is old and also needs to be changed. grabed some 5lb ice line and 8 lbs micro ice line today. spooling it up tonight. going to a good day in 2 weeks at teh GTG

you may want to downsize your line, if you want jumbos in simcoe, they are very picky not like fish up north, I've had lakers hit faster then jumbos, 4 lbs is my absolute max, otherwise the jumbos turn away and the sinks hit but its your call.

running 5 pound main with a 2 foot floro leader (either blood-knot or small barrel swivel) at least on simcoe. Up here 5 pound is fine for crappie and perch.
