I checked out kemp today Ron and it was even worse, almost a foot of straight slush, will most likely all freeze by sunday though. Huts are not a must and I only use mine on cold days to warm up.

the slush was bad out there but it was nothing compared to the 12" of water we were walking through up north at times after xmas, 3-4" max in the area's I hit up on the north shore. By today the spots I was in will have frozen up, it was almost at the point where you weren't going through on the walk back in yesterday.

Don't get your panties in knot... Slush will be a non issue come sunday. Should be beautiful for walking, as long as we don't get any fresh snow.
Question for CanadianAngler87 - Where are you planning on setting up off IBP to the south or north how many FOW?
Or is the plan to meet up and then head out?

there are cars driving out on the ice, slush is just annoying, doesn't make the ice dangerous this time of year.

I thought you liked my panties in a knot though??? *heartbroken!*
I went out my first time on Sunday, and every time my foot sunk into the slush by an inch i thought i was going to die lol. It's gotta be a normal feeling when you first start to ice fish.

This is more reassuring. Thanks, BowSlayer.

Don't worry, there is more than a foot of ice under that slush, sunday the snowmobiles will have nothing on us when we can walk as far as we want!!

sweet sound good. not sure if i am bring anyone with me, I was supposed to bring my brother-in-law and my buddy, but now they are unable to come, so It looks like I will be heading down solo.
With any luck i should be on the ice by 7am, I hope there will still be parking that late. and I will be looking for the bright Hot pink homemade hut and the Blue one with smoke rollin out the top-pipe correct.

Wind is going to be insane out there!

ya everyone better bring huts or sit with their backs to the wind beside a hut, the winds gonna be strong but southwest which means it will be a warm wind and that should turn the fish on!

How thick is the ice?
How full does the parking lot get?
about a foot or maybe even more, the parking lot is huge, doesn't really get that full, lots of space and good launch to walk from.

How far out are we planning of walking?? By Google maps view, theres a point about 500 M north of the Parking lot. or Fox Island and Snake island both look to be a 2.5 KM walk across the ice.
Or is there under water humps and stuff I am unaware of??
