The last couple of trips out has been with my boys. Always fun watching them get excited hooking into a fish and the smiles and laughs they have when they land one. I was even outfished this day. lol
The best was hearing my boy say "Dad, I caught two fish, I can't believe it!" Too funny. They definately want to go again with me. Start them off young.

Well it looks as though i'm doing better with the white fish than the lakers this year. Oh well i'll take it, on the plus side they are darn tasty and a few of em actually went on some runs. I met Tom from Fatal Force Outfitters on the ice a few weeks ago and headed out with him on one of his days off guiding. He gave me some good pointers on how to work a whitefish on the screen based on what bait you are using and let me have at em. I gotta say a quick 5-10 min sled ride out 6k on the ice sure beats dragging a 60lb sled for 45 minutes and only making it 3k out there!
First white fish ever
Some decent under water footage
Sorry for the short video's, Tom had a bit of a sprint to make it over to my hut so we were just getting the tail end.
This one was the hardest fighting fish out of all the ones landed and it was also the smallest! It went on a good 20' or longer run right before the camera got to my hut.

And here is Tom with a nice full length video using his Go Pro mount.

Had a great time out and now I have the confidence to catch those whities when it seems like they are all I am marking on my screen.

nice whities! i fish them up north and the 5-8 lb ons don't fight as well as the 2 pounder for sure! We were out a few weeks ago and a 2 pound whitie was peeling drag like crazy, bending the crap out of the rod, making it look like a 20 lb laker! I find the ones up north fight harder and taste better then the simcoe ones but the simcoe ones are usually in bigger schools and usually willing to bite, can't say the same for northern whities, lol.

Northern whities fight harder than Simcoe whities? I would have figured the opposite seeing how much harder simcoe lakers fight than northern lakers.

oh yes, small northern whities fight much harder then simcoe whities, big ones fight like simcoe whities, at least the lakes if csh for them, you gotta compare the size of the simcoe lakers to the northern lakers size though lol. If you hook a 20 lb laker up north trust me the fight will not be worse then a simcoe laker. Whities fight hard everywhere but up north you've got the 2 pounders peeling line, as Christoper K. if you don't believe me, lol.

Well I thought I lost my underwater point and shoot but it turns out it was in my steelheading hip pack the whole time. Brought it out to Simcoe today and made a few laker videos with the snowpod.
I forgot I was supposed to turn on the video camera and almost had this fish up to the hole before I turned the camera on. Luckily it still had a massive run left in it.

There was a can of beeferoni heating up at least! Anything tastes like fine food on the ice if its hot lol.

cool videos NADO, I have a few from this winter as well I have to upload.
Ever try your pin on the ice? I kept my old pin and use it for the ice and whenever else I feel like messing around with the "wheel" in a none floating scene. I haven't used a spinning reel on the ice this year and love it.

I got a whitie on the pin this year, it would have been a lot more fun if it was a laker. Its nice in a warm heated hut but a little too cold for my liking in the open since I cant wear big gloves with it.
