when fishing for lakers, i rarely use minnows, mostly large lures or soft plastics, like swammers, big tubes, etc. when you see fish on you, real like your on crack, lol.

×2 the only minnows id be takin out there would be pinheads for whitefish. Large Tubes (white) Large Spoons,Jigging Raps and my Favorite Bucktail jigs. Mark your lure on your sonar, wait till you get a follower and start reeling to get them to chase. And hold on tight! Goodluck!
Where do you get the pinhead minnows? All i have seen in the bait shops are shiners

Most baitshops will sell em by the scoop. Pinheads are usually just small shiners, lots of bait shops wont carry them until ice conditions are safe.Where do you get the pinhead minnows? All i have seen in the bait shops are shiners

if you want whitefish, go north lol, simcoe blows for whities but its amazing for lakers, Nick, just noticed you joined the forum!!! its Ron btw.

I seem one whitefish today and about 5 lakers being pulled off. I hooked into one nice one around 130 and then it just died. Guess its morning fishing there still
