I'm going up to Nip on the 24th with a group of guys. We'll be there from Thursday-Sunday staying at Glen Echo Cottages.
Anyone have any experience in that area? This will be my first time on the ice in that area. Just wondering what to expect and what to bring with me.

Yes, I will be in an ice bungalow. Half of the group will be staying in a standard bungalow while the other half got one of the superhuts that they introduced last year. They've got electric lights and satellite TV so we'll be able to watch the Leafs games next Friday and Saturday. haha.
Would you say the nights are more productive for eyes than the early mornings? I'm really looking forward to getting some on ice.
Do you have any tips or techniques you'd recommend? Also, anything special I should be bringing with me? I'm still a novice when it comes to the hard water but I've tried to equip myself the best I can.
Feel free to PM me if you don't want to post anything specific in here.
Thanks,
Mike

why ice fish it, in the spring and fall during the walleye run in ottawa its insane, tons of mudpuppies i got like 20 inn one evening and like 10 walleye, a but of a drive for these little monsters though lol, i took one home for the aquarium and it survived for a while but then he died, still don't know why, i know they like rocky and really deep bottoms tough.

On Monday a guy on Nip got a jumbo perch and while bringing it up got slammed by a 30+ northern pike the bad part was he only had a 6 inch hole and no chisel he was using 25lb braid was well hooked but had to cut the line and let it go that really sucks ,, a buddy of mine offered to cut him a 8 inch hole but he wanted to say with the one he had,, 20 min later he got a 10+ Walleye and guess what don't fit hade to cut the line again ,, think he would have learnt the first time ,,, Hmmm
