I hear a bit about perch from time to time. I haven't been perch'n in a few years so I have geared up!

fishing okuma celilo light 28" rods, small jigs and spoons, 4lbs test nanofil. My bait includes meal worms and minnows.

So back on topic. What makes a jumbo perch jumbo to you?

For me, the fact that they get shoulders, you know that bump behind the head. And a certain length weight fish makes them jumbo. I would stand on a ledge and say 12" is the length that makes a perch jumbo.

Anyone else care to chime in?

I'd say 11" is the minimum for me, oh and they must take drag!

I feel inspired!

I have gathered a team of 4 anglers. Unless something comes up we are headed to East shoal lake. A shallow prairie lake that lies between Lake Manitoba and Lake Winnipeg. Fishing pressure is moderate but reports have been very positive. Jumbo's have been reported

I was down at the Orilla Perch durby last year and the MNR guy speaking said a 10 inch perch in consitered a jumbo.

Me I go after 12inch or 1 foot its a Jumbo. but a perch over 8inch is a keeper to me to me under 8inch there is not enough meat to keep it, unless the fish cannot be let go. then you must keep it and try to get meat off it
