Good day beautiful people, a 55 year old fart here with no fishing experience whatsoever using a spinning reel. Doesn't even know how to cast yet. I did some fishing 40++ years ago using a bamboo rod and piece of rubber slipper as a float, catches me some decent size tilapia, this happened back home (Philippines). I love fishing ever since, just can't find the time to do it. Now that I do have it, I will not let this opportunity to fish slip my hands. Just completed my fishing gear( so I believe) and just got a fishing license. Been reading a lot of fishing articles, tips, ways and everything that can help me land my very first fish here in Toronto. All inputs to help me learn a trick or two from master angler out there will be highly appreciated. Some fishing hotspot too will be a plus. I don't have a car so mobility is restricted, I live just a stone throw away from Islington station. I will be your typical weekend angler and will practice catch and release.

Thanks and GOd bless,
Ramon

Hey Ramon,

You can try your luck at Humber Bay Park.

We can meet up in the summer time to try our luck on bass, pike or carp.

Don't forget about carp. If you are fishing catch and release , they are a great fish for you. To start out all you need is a can of corn for bait. Good luck  or Tight Lines as we anglers say.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys, much appreciated. I still need a lot to learn, first and foremost is fish species, what to fish and what not to fish but that's not much of a concern if I will practice catch and release. Another thing is the type of lure to use on a specific type of fish. I already have spoons, jigs, fly, poppers, spinners, crank baits and soft worms. So I think I can cover the top, mid and bottom but still needs to learn on how and when to use them. I still need to learn how to cast properly as I don't really know how yet. Water temp and season is another subject I need to learn, been reading a lot about fishing lately plus watching tons of video in YouTube about fishing. All inputs will be highly appreciated guys.

Thanks and God bless,
Ramon
