Hey everyone. I did a lot of searching for this and I can't really find a definitive answer. Can you use deadbait such as smelt or mackerel. I was watching some guys in the UK rig up some frozen mackerel and catch some pretty nice pike. Thanks in advance for any help.

If memory serves me right - you can use any type of dead bait you want as long as it isn't one of our native fish and  its a baitfish that is on the list of legal fish to use.

My suggestion would be get some worms and get some suckers during the Spring - the small ones are around a foot long.

I would go to the tackle shop cuz most will have live and frozen minnows that you can use... If it's a game fish or not on the legal bait list you can't use it
