hey folks,

just wondering if anyone have spent the day at these places and what fishing was like and if they are family friendly as well or not.

Heart Lake is good for a family outing, and lots of fish too...  Claireville is not so easy to fish...

I went to Heart lake last year for pike opener and rented a boat because I wanted to get on top of the game in a way but didn't help.

Clean place, great for a picnic but hard to even pull our a perch or really any other sunfish even.

In the middle pond there are a bunch of turtles and one GIANT trout which some idiot couple were trying to snag and also saw someone pull out a bass and as soon as I yelled at them from my aluminium they tossed it back.

Sad to say, there was even a CO there but he went around cruising on his boat and came back checking peoples licenses but you can buy one there so wasn't really a big day on the water to catch the real big guns but yeh...

anyways...

I personally wouldn't go back, before this time I was quite young but now there is a lot of fishing pressure... LOTS so its darn hard to fish. lots of people fishing there. I would 100000% recommend you to find a park with a little body of water on it and I'm sure their will be fish to catch for the family but I wouldn't recommend going.

Heart Lake can be the best fishing one day and skunked the next.

Day was nice and sunny, bunch of people and water was clear up to maybe 5-6 feet. I used a couple of different husky jerks and some soft baits down there.

Heart lake, I have caught trout, bass, catfish and sunfish.

It depends on the time of day and year you go.

Ive only used Worms and trout marshmellows.
