The bay is probably quite a bit warmer than the main lake because many parts are only 10-12 ft deep but its definently colder than it should be for this time of year
We should of checked water temp before we went haha.

Hey Kit, I noticed you've mentioned Bannister and Wrigley Lakes before. I may try them for pike on Saturday.

Well me and Kleiner met up. Talked a bunch, great guy. Hope to wet some lines together soon. I got a hit from a small pike when my lure was close to shore but couldn't get the hookset before it took off. Thats my first little taste of pike this year haha.

Question,
When you see pike in the shallows just chilling, are they active feeders or are they not interested in feeding?
I saw one today but spooked it when I threw my jerkbait at it.... plus I think it already saw me because we were face to face.
I should've back tracked and creeped behind it.

pike will breed in the shallows .. but with colder temp there metabolisms slo down and they will have larger meals only and bite less often... or but maybe it was a female just protecting her nest! had you been using a soft plastic you might of got it..

had a couple hours in georgian bay area on the weekend with a friend. caught a few smaller fish
was using a small jighead with a big orange grub on it.. just casting off shore
eventually it led to this guy. not huge. and was a bit beat up. but he followed it right into within 3 feet of me then smashed it and ran out my line into some rocks.. i got snagged and thought i lost it but when i got the snag out he was still on and got him in

I went out today for some pike/carp action and when I got to my fishing spot.
Thousands of baitfish everywhere, I believe they were herring.
Skunked on pike again.

Every time I try to get my lure to swim by, the pike bolts and gets spooked.
