hello everyone,

ive been reading these forums for a while and finally decided to join.

I moved up here from southern california 4 years ago, and have been discovering new ways to enjoy my lifelong hobby ever since. Last year I decided to buy a fly rod and try to brave the trout and salmon runs, which is something totally new to me. I have been mostly exploring west tribs, trying to land something, but have not had any luck.

unfortunately, all my friends here are not fishermen and I just dont know where to go (like how far upriver i need to explore, etc..). I know i am new here, and this kind of info isnt just given away to anyone, but just a general idea would help. I work about 65-70 hours a week, so i dont have a lot of time to explore, but id say ive spent at least 60+ hours since october trying my luck.

thanks everyone

sean

The steelhead are way upstream now. No one is gonna say, hey guys theres tons of steel at the first bridge on the __________ river. Therefore, i have found that what you need to do is fish! Walk the river, try different parks even. It takes YEARS to get really good at steelhead and salmon, but the big thing is timing. Timing is everything, put that together with the right location, and you get fish. Remember, its hard!!!!!
