I got 2 setups that I'll be using for carp.

centerpin setup

&

8'6 ugly stick, medium, 25lb power pro braid with 6ft of 10lb pline fluro leader.

I just gotta figure out my presentation with the ugly stick

Meaning your rigging?

What where you thinking of doing? ....

Went out yesterday with my 13' float rod and centerpin, and caught not only my first ever carp, but several of them.  I chummed with corn, and it didn't take long till they were at the edge of the river.  Used the float, but also a little sight fishing.  Definitely a lot of fun, this fish will stay on my list of fish to catch regularly.

I was thinking of fishing deeper waters with the uglystick and use a sliding sinker.

The only concern I have is snagging the bottom.  So maybe a 3 turn swivel with a bell sinker.

Did you make sure your bait was touching the bottom when you used the float?  And how deep were you fishing?

I've spotted some carp in 2-3ft that I plan om using the float.

Small carp are a delicacy across Europe. Especially during holidays. I had them and their actually pretty tasty.

So then why else would you shoot arrows at them?

I had Carp fingers for lunch in Prague a few years ago and it was really good. It was actually way better than walleye for me, which I found to be totally bland, like eating fish tofu.... yeah I said it, fish tofu.

Very nice! Congratulations.

I have been fishing for carp few year ago near Peterborough and it was great. They are good fighters and is a fun catching them.

Hopefully this year will have some time for carp fishing.

carp are totally different from walleye, walleye have no taste, id much rather take a jumbo or a laker over one, carp have a sweet taste to them and if marinated right they are very very tasty, just not from the GTA, if you get a clean carp and know exactly how to make it you will not be disappointed, they are very bony so putting the meat through a grinder is a good idea. In Europe its considered the best tasting fish. They are not good fried you have to marinate them, similar to canning suckers.
