How long is carp fishing good for? If it's heating up now.. When does it die out?

I hope its hot till salmon season

Carp reels huh......never seen one in use. I just flip open my reel's bail when i leave it there and close it when i get a strike.

Gonna do this.  I was worried about my reel being dragged into the water.

Well he has started to. lol But where are the stakes for the butt rest and the alarm? What will you screw them into? o.0

I got the stakes, I forgot to take them out of the bag.  Mines have the pointy bottom, how would you set them up if you're fishing on concrete?

Gotta find something to hold them up.

or better yet, get the reel that i use for stillfishing for salmon or carp, its a daiwa baitcaster specially made for planer board applications for walleye, just leave the spool free, activate the clicker for strike indication, and booom! i could literally stay away from the rod, and once i hear, wwwweeeeeeeaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnnkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk! click, click, click, then i race to the rod and set the hook and hold on for dear life!

I don't own or ever used a baitcaster before.  I would like to get into it next year.

I never thought I would be carp fishing this year but I'm on that steelhead withdrawal.

I purchased banksticks but not pictured and I'm good for bell sinkers.

Question...  I bought a hair rig setup and the tail end has a swivel.  What I want to do is a bolt rig setup which involves a 3 way turn swivel.

How do I attach my hair rig on a 3 way turn swivel?  Or should I just forget about the bolt rig and just use a sliding egg sinker instead?

Best thing to do is get some safety lead clips. like these.  http://www.carpkit.c...ip-kit-size-10/

you can slide that over your mainline and tie the mainline to the swivel, the swivel wiill rest inside of this clip.    your bell sinkers can be clipped onto the line .

You can see in the picture of this item how the leads connect to the clip http://www.carpkit.c...wivel-Lead.html

Another way to go is with sliding sinkers, you should get some heavy ones though, 2-3 oz is pretty good. http://www.carpkit.c...ar-inline-lead/

You could get away with the three way swivel but you already have almost all the good kit already, might as well just get the last remaining parts and do it up proper.  The bolt rig functions by having a heavy lead that will set the hook on the fish when it trys to "bolt" away.  so dont be shy on the weight of the lead.  egg sinkers wont really cut it, youi will have to set the hook and be mindful of your rod when you get a bit.  with the bolt rig, you dont need to set the hook, you can walk away from your rod no problems.

you can catch carp year round, they prefer warm water though(18-25 degrees C), so in the winter you would need to find a warm water discharge ( power plant, sewage treatment outflow, etc)  for the most part, may to october is the best time, with june and september being the best months

could always place an order with carpkit, hes in milton, awesome guy.  fast shipping.  Ive spent thousands with him.  I have all the gear, carping tent/umbrella thing, carryall that holds my 4 rods , net, umbrella tent, bank sticks.  also bought a really nice cot for inside the tent  and a chair.  rods, reels.  you can really spend a lot of carp fishing.  when you go carp fishing for 2-3 days straight you tend to need alot of the camping items .  We sleep with our rigs out in the water, wake up to screaming run at 3 am, drunk off your rocker.  Its quite fun!

Also sometimes, those clips come in a kit with some rig tubing, swivels and a few other things.  sometimes they come attached to the leads as well.  I bought tonnes of these nash distance leads for cheap and each lead has a clip attached. bonus

....Forgot to post these pictures from this morning, dropped in on a small creek, the carp were spawning.  Nailed a few nice sized females and one male.  First one I caught just started pouring eggs while I was getting the photography done.  got caviar on both legs and both arms, dried on, still trying to pick it all off  at work right now.

I have a bunch more that are hidden on youtube.  people were stealing my spots like crazy after I posted the vids online.    I just want to get back into the video thing, its fun!  trying to buy a go pro now, having trouble with my future shop card, got suspended because I didnt pay some balacnce protection insurance premuim.  i owe them 20 bucks and they suspended me, what a joke.  will take a few days to clear that up before I can grab a new go pro. oh well

Yea, that's only problem when posting vids.

I have hidden vids as well but I dont mention where I fish in my vids.

If I fish with people or if they give me a honey hole, I ask permission if I can upload it on youtube.

If they say no, I just post it as private for my personal viewing.

Most of my fishing spots are very easy access to everyone so it doesn't bother me if people fish there.

^ Good on you brother. Seems like you should have caught one by now, so maybe tomorrow will be your day!

Patience man, be patient! What are you using for rigging/baiting?

I'm starting at 7am tomorrow and am probably leaving around 6pm

GOOD LUCK!

GOOD LUCK!

I'll be using a hair rig with a boillie and a floating corn.  I'll have it setup like a bolt rig.

I also mashed up some bread, bird seeds from the dollar store, corn and oatmeal as ground bait.

I'm gonna use the whole day tomorrow to focus on carp.

Thanks

Good luck Pump!! I wanna see some carp pics tomorrow man.

Thanks bro and hopefully a vid too
