Reason being, the serious carp anglers who catch them are strictly catch and release. They release the fish after weighing and photos. To post a record, you must bring the fish in for weight on government scales etc etc which normally means the fish must die. I know many many people that have caught 40lbrs, happens all the time.
I get the reason behind that rule, but it's a stupid one. Trophy fish should be sent back in not killed just to get your name on record.

wtf, thats brutal. Some people are so disrespectful. Obviuosly meat hunters as there is a carp head laying there. Unfortuantly its usually the meat hunters that make the huge mess.

On Sunday my buddy told me he caught guys trying to net carp at the carp barrier.
He told them that MNR was watching them and they left.

Also on Sunday when I was fishing, a bunch of kids were asking me if they can keep the carp that I catch.
I asked them why? And they mentioned that they sell the meat.
I'm not sure if they were BSing me but they were a bunch of them fishing for carp in the late evening.

My last carp outing was on sunday and I lost both on bent hooks. I had the drag set to tight when the carp took my hair rig.
This was my first time using a 3oz sinker and they would just peel line so fast. I think they freaked out when they immediately felt the weight.

Ya, thats why they call it a bolt rig. When the fish picks up your bait, the heavy weight will set the hook which in turn spooks the carp and it bolts!
I found a good carp mat at the dollarama
Looksgood to me!
