i dont think you guys up here hurl 3-6oz sinkers plus bait out ~150 yards to get carp..

I do

Well 4oz, and atleast a buck 30 in distance.

(12' Daiwa with 3.0lb test curve)

interesting...  maybe i should bring some of my carp/lite surf gear from nyc next time i drive down.
possibly meet up and sling bait for carp..   using such lite fw gear isnt my style.

<3 casting 8-10oz + half a cut bunker, for red drum or striped bass.    :D

Dont really sling, sometimes I spod, but most of the time I use pva combinations so i wont usually chum.

Straight corn with flavouring, always worked and always will with commons :-)

Once in a while Ill slap on a method feeder.. but for me personally its all in the cast.

I dont really own fw gear. Even though I only fish freshwater. I will always choose sw gear over it.

So so much more reliable imo.

oh i use the term sling, for any general weighted baited rigs being cast.

casting is never a prob for me. ive done measured casts on grass at 700-820ft. which is around 260ish yards, 240ish meters?

talking about carp gear and this style of fishing.. argh i should find some people here, meet up, and i can see first hand how you guys do it up here.
